While print media seems to have been surpassed by electronic media these days, a well designed print marketing campaign can really help build your customer base. However, with the prevalence of electronic and interactive media, your print media needs to be well designed to connect with customers so they don-t throw it straight out.
Can you imagine searching through a flyer for the information you need? Not these days. If we can-t find it quickly then we stop looking and look somewhere else. Make sure your print media prominently displays who you are, what you do, and how to contact you. You should also make sure this information contrasts with any background or pictures so it can be very easily read.
If you have any text on your flyer then make sure it doesn-t clash with the background. When people put flyers on my door, anything I have to strain my eyes to read goes straight in the trash. I have too many other things to do to work to read someone-s marketing message. Try and keep the text to a minimum and use small paragraphs and lists whenever possible.
Remember too that your print media is part of your brand. If you use one set of colors on your storefront and another on your flyers then people will struggle to find you. You storefront colors should be reflected in your print media to make it as easy as possible for people to find you.
Aside from making it easy to find you, customers may notice you when they-re not looking. I frequent a restaurant I found when I was looking for another store, simply because I recognized the colors from a flyer they had sent me months before, and decided to see what they were like.
Even with all the amateur graphic designers out there, nothing beats using a professional designer for your document needs. They have the experience not to make any of the mistakes above, and to give you a professional looking product you’ll be proud to hand out.
